In April 2016, Bronx political activist Ronald Savage accused Afrika Bambaataa of molesting him in 1980, when Savage was 15. Following Savage's allegations, three more men accused Afrika Bambaataa of sexual abuse. Afrika Bambaataa issued a statement to Rolling Stone denying the allegations. On May 6, 2016, Afrika Bambaataa was dismissed as head of The Zulu Nation. The allegations and local testimonies from Bronx River Projects residents have revealed that Bambaataa was known as "Lance Taylor" in 1970s.
