About

The #SELFieLOVEchallenge is a social media campaign that aims to raise awareness about available resources for domestic violence survivors. And, for those able, the challenge will provide an opportunity to help raise money to support domestic violence services in Connecticut. This is done through the use of our branded hashtag, #SELFieLOVEchallenge, and online donations: bit.ly/StandAgainstDomesticViolence. With nearly 40,000 survivors reaching out to Connecticut domestic violence organizations for assistance each year, every dollar raised makes a difference.

The primary idea of this campaign is to encourage our online community as well as domestic violence advocates, community partners, media personalities, influencers, bystanders and survivors to participate in a viral challenge that would tag up to 3 additional people/organizations and use three purple hearts to signify their participation in the challenge โ€“ honoring survivors, those weโ€™ve lost, and themselves.

โ€œ๐Ÿ’œ survivors ๐Ÿ’œ gone but not forgotten ๐Ÿ’œ meโ€

The underlying theme is the importance of โ€œself-loveโ€ which is a theme everyone can agree on. The idea is to create a community that nurtures and cultivates a feeling of unity and bring light and conversation to a topic that is delicate in nature. A donation, however small or large, will increase access for survivors to utilize critical resources, such as our upcoming initiative, Safe Connect (launching in November), which will serve as the primary access point to domestic violence resources in CT via phone, text, chat and email.
